EMURGO’s New Direction Could Change Cardano Forever! Foundation’s New Partnership! ADA News 21 April
00:00
Alright guys, lots happening in the space here. I’ve got news around the Cardano Foundation and their brand new partnerships as well as the CEO of EMURGO, the commercial entity of Cardano stepping down from his position and getting a brand new replacement. Seems like a really good one too. And we also have a bunch of news updates around governance and things happening in the Cardano ecosystem. Let’s get right into it. Hey everyone, I’m Peter Bui. If this is your first time here, hit that thumbs up, like, subscribe, notification bell on your way in.
00:30
Let’s get into the news updates here. This first news item, like I mentioned, is around the Cardano Foundation’s partnership with PUCRIO. This is a top five university and they’re looking at a brand new R &D research around blockchain and DeFi, DAOs, digital assets and energy alongside the Cardano Foundation. This is the news update here. You can find it on the Cardano Foundation’s blog. You’ll find out all the details about that.
00:59
Links down below for you guys. But this is following the Cardano Foundation’s last collaboration with Petrobras, the largest petrochemical company in Brazil. And now they’re looking into this university here to build up more R &D research in regards to what they can actually do within the ecosystem with blockchain tech and delivering on the Cardano ecosystem. So this is a really, really big partnership for the team.
01:27
And this is joint initiative. It will focus initially on developing innovative blockchain based solutions to enhance the production, consumption and value chain of renewable energy fuels. So it’s new stuff that is being looked into within Brazil. So this is absolutely fantastic. And this comes on the heels of last month’s announcement with the Cardano Foundation and Sur Pro. This is the largest publicly owned IT provider. They service the public sector there.
01:56
in Brazil providing over 90 % of Brazil’s federal administration. So they service a huge portion of the government there. So this is absolutely amazing that the Cardano Foundation is reaching deep into the South American continent with the last year’s partnerships with Argentina and rolling out education and various partnerships there, but now also focusing on Brazil.
02:22
So we will see, I believe, a lot more of these partnerships. There’s a lot of work being done in the background to make this all happen. So this is super exciting. Awesome news from the Kidano Foundation. Now I thought this was quite a big news item for EMURGO and this is the appointment of a brand new CEO, Philip Pohn. And this comes after Ken’s announcement that he’s stepping down as CEO and assuming a role of chairman of the board of the EMURGO Group. So this is fairly big news.
02:51
There was always criticism around what on earth was EMURGO doing, lack of communication, all sorts of things around that. And Philip Pon here is stepping into this particular role to fulfill and lead the EMURGO company in the right direction of where they’re going to head to next. Now in this post here, Ken talks about Kodano’s direction, where it started to where it is now, crediting a lot of its success to the visions of its founder, Charles Hosenson. Ken mentioned,
03:20
While many other L1s have focused solely on speed, we, Cardano, remained committed to addressing core challenges of blockchain trilemma, balancing security, decentralization and sustainability. And as a result, the Cardano blockchain has remained in the top 10 performing L1s for an extremely long time. Now this year, we are going to see the launch of Midnight and other various L2 solutions. We’re seeing
03:48
the upgrade of Cardano with Laos. We have Midnight coming out as well on the partner chain built on Substrate. And then we have L2 solutions such as Hydra, Midgard and many more coming up that is delivering that speed boost that we really need to make it compete with other L1 blockchains out there. So this is a very big goal and milestone for the Cardano blockchain. So as this happens,
04:17
Emurgo is looking to enter into its new phase and focus on other things such as building the future of finance, looking into tokenization of RWAs and commercializing DeFi overall. So this is a very strong focus on the commercializations of the blockchain ecosystem. So this is most definitely what we need. And I’m really glad that they’ve changed focus and
04:45
have a very narrow field of where they’re going to go next. So hopefully we do see more and a lot of announcements from the brand new CEO here, Philip Pohn, and we’ll find out a little bit more about him and what he can deliver for Cardano in general. But Phil here does bring years of experience, decades of experience around blockchain DeFi and emerging markets. I did look into Philip’s LinkedIn profile to try and get an idea of his background, and he certainly has
05:12
worked in a lot of C level roles and worked as advisors for various companies. So he definitely is bringing the experience that is needed for Emurgo. So hopefully we do see a little bit more from Philip at various events. We do see a lot from Charles from IG. We see a lot from Frederick Greggard from the Kadona Foundation, but we never really heard much from Ken from Emurgo. Now I do realize that there are language barriers because Ken doesn’t speak English.
05:39
So he couldn’t get out on the networking stage and do a lot of those presentations or interact with a lot of the community. So I know there were those language barriers, but it sounds here that Philip is very different. is a Singaporean native. So I do believe it be a very different approach from what EMURGO have previously been doing. Looking forward to the future of EMURGO here under new leadership with Philip Pohn. Now there is a lot happening in the government side of things and I did a big update around the various proposals out there and
06:09
what’s happening next. And if you are still unfamiliar with the whole governance era of Cardano, have a look at that video. I’ll put a link to it down below, but this is the era of governance where ADA holders can start voting on various proposals and help control and steer the direction of the Cardano ecosystem. But this has been really good. Tony here has put together this really cool website called Cardano Budget. And this allows you to have a look at
06:37
all these various budget proposals, how people are voting, which direction they’re going at a really quick visual way. And I love this website because it makes it a lot easier to go through all these proposals and see which way people are voting at the moment. So this is a brilliant tool overall. And this was shared out and Tim Harrison here also put together a short list of other websites that could be really useful. So if you haven’t seen any of these websites,
07:03
1694budget.cadano.africa, governancespace.com and Cadano Budget. They’re all really good websites to look at. We also have Tempo Vote and Lido Nation that are working on a lot of things as well. But this is absolutely brilliant to see. You can have a quick look at these here. This is the Budget Cadano Africa. Gives you a really good visual overview of what’s going on in general in regards to what proposals are pushing in which directions, et cetera. And this one here, 1694.
07:32
gives you a big overview of all the various proposals. Same on Cardano governance space. This is a brilliant website. I love the speed and zippiness of this one. So this is a nice one to browse all the proposals through. And of course, this brand new one, Cardano budget, which gives you a nicer visual summary of how and which direction things are voting at the moment too. So lots of different tools out there. We’ll probably see favoritism between one or two of them. So we can find out.
08:02
You probably will see some favoritism between one or two of them based on its features and usability. But this is something we’re going to see pop up every single year. We’ll be using these various websites to vote on what’s happening in the Kodano space. So we’ll bookmark these. I’ll put links to them down below in the show notes and you can find out more about them, use them and hopefully vote within this governance era of Kodano. Now I’ve got some updates around wallets in the ecosystem and Tokeo here. Tokeo.
08:31
Gotta love these guys from Australia, but they’re releasing a whole bunch of new features at the moment. They’re focusing on Cardano and Bitcoin as their main two chains. And of course they’re going to expand to different other chains in the future too. So if you have a look at their expert, you can see the various updates that they have. They have a Tokeo revamp is here. Everything you need is available via explore and rewards tab at one place for all you need to try it out more. So they’ve got a lot of updates here.
08:57
So they’re brand new rewards tab so you can find out what’s coming in on your particular wallet. They also have some updates here around Swift syncing. So Swift syncing is now live, quicker, faster, smoother, your portfolio always up to date. the wallet would use some sort of backend, it uses various APIs to get all this data. So they’ve sped that up to make it easier and quicker to use. And we also have this other update here about transaction chaining.
09:26
So Kodana users can now speed outputs directly from mempool transactions for lightning fast transactions. Cool. Improved speedy performance, a clear UTXO set, enhanced reliability for dApps and no more spending already spent UTXOs. So essentially a nice way to speed up all the transactions that are going and you can do lots of transactions quickly, consecutively from your wallet.
09:53
So you do one transaction, you don’t have to wait for it to get on chain before doing your next one. You continuously can trade on the wallet itself. So that makes things really, really easy. So if you want to find out more about what’s happening with Tokeo, you can find out more on their XFeed links down below for you guys. This other wallet here, I love the Keystone hardware wallet. It is now my favorite hardware wallet. I’ve been using between the
10:21
Ledger Nano and the Keystone. Now Keystone is just winning their way ahead in terms of development, doing some really cool things with it. So they’ve got these various updates on other blockchains as well. But the one that I’m interested in here is the brand new Cardano update, the hardware wallet CLI support. So this one here is more of a technical one and this is for anyone that is using a node as their wallet, such as a stake pool operator. So now you can use your hardware wallets on your stake pool.
10:50
So this is really good for any operator out there. Some them are still using the Ledger Nano and that works brilliantly. But now you have this extra option here of using the Keystone to secure your node. So now anyone that is using a node and need it on the command line can use the hardware wallet, the Keystone hardware wallet. So this is an absolutely brilliant upgrade.
11:18
Now we have more options in regards to what we can use within the Cardano ecosystem. So awesome work there from Keystone. Thank you very much for continuously working and supporting the Cardano ecosystem. And if you want one of these sexy hardware wallets, you can get one via my affiliate link down below. You can find it in the show notes and I get a little commission off the top there if you do decide to buy via that link. So thank you everyone that has purchased one already via that link.
11:46
your support is much appreciated. This update here is from Charlie3 and they’ve got some brand new documentation up around their pool based Oracle docs. So this is a really cool thing for anyone that is using an Oracle out there or needs to integrate into an Oracle. More documentation around this. I do have some updates from Charlie3 for any users out there and this is a brand new liquidity program that they have got and this here is various ways that you guys can
12:16
gain extra C3 tokens within their ecosystem. So they’ve got this big liquidity drive at the moment. So liquidity on your terms here, they’ve got massive rewards pool of 6 million C3 tokens and it’s across the major DEXs out there. So you’ve got MintSwap, Vi-Finance, SundaySwap and WingRiders with an even split of each of the 6 million C3 tokens. So 1.5 million tokens on each one.
12:45
It pays out the rewards every five days, which is absolutely fantastic. And the cool thing here is that the decks is here because they have that even split. You can distribute your liquidity to earn those rewards to the lowest participating decks. So maybe everyone’s on MinSwap, for example. So the APR would be quite low. But if you start splitting that across Vi-Fi, SundaySwap and WingRiders, where there might be less participants,
13:13
you can earn some more of those C3 tokens. So that’s a really nice incentive there to have a look and analyze what’s happening within the space. The other thing here, we’ve got year long reward bonanza. So this lasts for the entire year, 73 epochs. This did start back in March. So you’re already one month behind. And then once you delegate and have all your rewards within the ecosystem, you can access it via drip drops. So you can claim it by their claiming platform.
13:42
Now there is also, I believe, six month, yeah, here we go, rewards are locked for six months from the end of each epoch. And this is to maximize the value of your reward. So people aren’t just getting rewards and then dumping them. So if you start providing liquidity on these various DEXs now, you won’t be able to claim it for another six months. So it’s a nice way to, it’s essentially a vesting schedule. So it keeps.
14:09
that liquidity locked within the ecosystem much longer. So it’s a nice thing to do. Now, the launch date, like I said, was March 15th. So that was last month. And you can still participate this and earn some of these rewards over the next next 11 months. So good luck with that. I’ll put a link to all that down below. But I’ve also put a link to this. And this is a tutorial course that I’ve put together for MinSwap. And this post here in particular is around liquidity pool provisioning.
14:38
and the risks and rewards are providing liquidity. So we do need to understand what is involved when providing liquidity and the probably the most risky thing is the idea of impermanent loss and that is when the value of a token might go up or down in a way that you’re not really happy with. So you do need to be aware of this. I highly recommend going through this particular article reading through it. I’ve got links to some videos as well about impermanent loss so you get a better understanding.
15:08
and you can learn more about how to participate in DeFi as well. So check out that course I’ve got on there around the MintSwap V2. Now this here is brilliant news and the Cardano DeFi ecosystem keeps on growing and Anzen is now the top Cardano stablecoin by market cap. It’s big news for the Cardano ecosystem overall. USDA has officially climbed to number one stablecoin position on Cardano by market cap.
15:35
So what there are there at the moment, let’s break down the current stats in ADA price 1.5 ADA daily volume 300K liquidity 13.39 million market cap at 16.2 million ADA and 10.44 million USD. So this is brilliant news for the ecosystem overall. So you can see the stats here. I believe this is pulling up from tap tools at the moment.
16:01
So if you visit the Taptools website, you can find these details here as well. So absolutely brilliant for the USDA team, the ANZENS team there. So in terms of governance, we are now in voting stage for all these committee positions. In my last update, I did talk about this, I think it was last week, maybe the week before now. I get confused about these dates, but you could have submitted yourself to be a part of the committee and help steer the direction of the Cardano ecosystem.
16:29
These are all volunteer based roles. You’re not getting paid for any of this stuff, but far out. There’s a lot of people that put their hands up to try and help out here. And we are now seeing that we are in the voting stage and the various candidates are putting up their hands and saying, hey, you can now vote for me for this various positions. Now we can find out more about this on the Intersect X feed. So here we are calling all Intersect members who registered before April 11th.
16:57
The Intersect Committee election voting period is officially open. You can now cast your votes on the member portal. If you need help, they have a big guide and I’ll take you through a little overview as well. But this is a documentation that they put out. All you need to do is go to the members dashboard. You can click on participate in voting and then you can go through the various categories and vote for the person that you want to be in the various committees.
17:26
You can see it here. is my login for the dashboard. You did need to register as a member. So this is a paid membership for Intersect. You can click on participate in voting. This will give you all the various categories or the various committee groups that are being voted for. And you can see here, let’s click on membership committee. And here you can see all of the various candidates and their profiles as well.
17:52
So I’m just going to click on one randomly. Let’s click on HOSCII here. You can read more about HOSCII, their bio, their ex-handle, and everything that they stand for. So there’s a lot of questions that they had to answer here, and there’s a lot of detailed responses from that as well. So if you want to learn more about the various candidates, you can go to this website, read their profiles, and try and determine who you want to vote for to sit in these various committees. So it’s a bit of a process here to go through all of these.
18:21
members. There’s a lot of people here. I did read the stats of how many people there were and I think there’s a lot. But you will need to go through here and start voting if you are an Intersect member and help steer the direction of the Cardano ecosystem. So good luck with everyone that has put up their hand to help volunteer and be a part of this process. It’s a hard job. It’s not easy and I’m glad that so many people put their hands up to do so.
18:50
There are some upcoming workshops for all the DREPs out there. So any delegate representative that is needing to vote on these various budget proposals, there are workshops to help you go through all of this. They call it the Essential Three Day Budget Reconciliation Workshop designed to prepare you for what’s ahead. There is a lot ahead. Unfortunately, this time here, 4 to 7 p.m. UTC, this is a terrible time for me. I think this is essentially 3 a.m. to 6 a.m.
19:19
for three days in a row and I am not doing that. I may have to view the various recordings afterwards, but this will just be painful for me and will absolutely kill my health. So I won’t be able to attend these live. Okay, 1 to 4 a.m. Japan time. So it’s essentially, yeah, about right, I think. So not the best time zones for me. Definitely much better for Europe and the U.S. Anyway.
19:46
kind of excludes me I guess and kind of excludes anyone from Japan as well and the Japanese holders are the largest holders of ADA at the moment. So that’s quite interesting times that they chose but hey they do what they need to do. There was also this budget proposal review workshop on Thursday last week and this was recorded and put live on YouTube so you can watch this one as well. I did have a quick look at this one here it goes for over three hours.
20:16
hats off to anyone that sat through the entire thing from start to end. yeah, unfortunately not a good time for me and I won’t be able to attend to any of this stuff. Now the last thing I’ll leave you guys with is the really cool stuff that’s happening at Draper U. This is the startup university over in Silicon Valley and a lot of Cardano users, Cardano builders were over there last week working through their introduction to the Draper U University and
20:46
Helping and and starting the process of really scaling up their businesses and take it to the next level to get hopefully VC funding These are the happy faces here. You may recognize some of them from X and various social media profiles, but this these these people here are helping represent Kidano in the VC space at the moment. So Awesome work guys. Good luck to you all. I saw a lot of really cool karaoke videos
21:14
So I know it’s a little bit of fun and games as well. So hopefully you are enjoying yourselves out there. All right. So that’s it. That’s all I have for this particular news update. Thank you for watching all the way to the end. And here are my latest members that have joined up. So all these people here have joined up as members of the Learn Cardano channel. Really, really appreciate anyone that has become a member really helps support the work that I do by contributing just a little bit, just enough for a coffee. So hopefully
21:43
So hopefully I can get enough people to sign up so can get a coffee a day. That’d be absolutely brilliant. But if you can’t buy me coffee, that’s totally cool. All you need to do then is hit that thumbs up, like, subscribe, notification bell, share out this video, leave a comment down below, do all that jazz work, that YouTube algorithm for me. I’ll see you guys in the next video.
