Cardano News Update, 4th April

Episode by Peter Bui on April 4th, 2025

To end the week, the Cardano Foundation has announced the release of a brand new identity wallet, Veridian, which Cointelegraph also covered. This wallet is focused on self-sovereign identity and supports decentralized identifiers (DIDs). It’s part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts, including a digital ID project in a province in Argentina.

SubWallet—a wallet originally focused on the Polkadot ecosystem. SubWallet now supports Cardano, Ethereum, and TON, giving users more flexibility. With over 300,000 users on Chrome alone, the integration broadens exposure for Cardano assets in the multi-chain landscape.

All this and much more in this news update.

Okay, so I’ve got a nice little news round up from all these different projects in the Cardano ecosystem to end up your week. It’s the 4th of April, 2005 on Peter Bui. Let’s get into it. This first news update comes from the Cardano Foundation itself and Cointelegraph covered this one here. And this is a brand new wallet that the foundation has set up and released. And it’s specifically an identity wallet.

00:26
This is cool. We do need some more of these nice identity wallets out there to use Did’s self-sovereign identity. I really find that this is a particular use case that is being pushed by the foundation at the moment. They’re working in Argentina to do that particular project, that province, Eros, something rather. I can’t remember the name exactly, but they’re doing.

00:50
the digital IDs and verification there. And of course you need a really good, easy user experience to be able to fill that. So now the foundation has released this brand new wallet here. I did install it on my iOS device to have a look at it. It’s pretty much the same as setting up any other crypto wallet. You need a seed phrase and as well. from there, but from there you’d be able to use the wallet as a digital ID.

01:17
wallet. So it’s really cool that they brought this one out here. The very first iteration of it. We will see more updates of it in the future. I’ll put links and references to all this down below so you can find out a little bit more about the wallet itself and actually have a play around with it. Now this is something else that the Cardano Foundation tweeted out or posted out the other day as well. And I do believe that they were working with SubWallet and the Polkadot ecosystem to bring this one along as well.

01:46
And this is integration with sub wallet. So we’re seeing more multi-chain actions happening at the moment. And sub wallet is a Polkadot specific wallet, but they now have integrations with Ethereum, Anton and Cardano. So they’re going multi-chain trying to expand their reach within their ecosystem. And it’s a fairly large wallet as well. I haven’t used this one myself. I use some other wallets in the Polkadot space.

02:15
This one here, it seems very, very integrated across multiple ecosystems and apps. So you can use it as an extension, it on your mobile. Have a web dashboard as well. So that’s kind of interesting. I’ll check that one out. But they have over 300,000 users on their Chrome extension itself. So I’m assuming the mobile experience might be something very similar, very high ratings there.

02:41
It’s good to know now that this particular wallet that has such a good reach within Polkadot ecosystem now also integrates in other change such as Ethereum, Cardano and Ton. So it gives those users a lot more options in regards to their crypto assets or they can do awesome work there from the Cardano Foundation and Sub Wallet. Now continuing on news from the Foundation, this is just a post from Frederick Greggard, the

03:10
CEO of the Cardano Foundation. And he pointed out that NMKR and Vista, Vista, I think that’s how you pronounce it, are bringing in a real world asset to blockchain. This was quite an interesting story. And I really liked this use case of NFTs for authenticity and proving that actually was produced by this particular designer. This is the article here.

03:37
If we go down to the details here, we can see that this particular Swiss designer launched the limited edition wheelchair and to prove its authenticity, when you purchase one of these unique pieces limited to a hundred pieces, you receive a certificate of authenticity as an NFT, which confirms its uniqueness. This is all done via NMKR, which makes it really, really cool. It’s just a really easy use case for it to all work.

04:07
Now I’ve got one of these Cardano Foundation hoodies that has an embedded NFT in it. So actually an NFC chip, a near field communications, think it’s communications chip or near field chip. That might be it. And you can scan your phone next to it and will bring up the authenticity NFT, which is attached to that particular hoodie. So it makes it really interesting and plays around with that supply chain tracking.

04:36
of a particular product. So it’s another use case and shows you how blockchain can be integrated into the real world. I absolutely love this stuff here. So awesome work from the end maker team there to make that one happen. This next news updates from Cerra and they’ve been quiet for a while, actually a very long while. I haven’t seen any updates from this team and they are coming back and

05:01
Bring in the borrowing lending and other DeFi plays for the Cardano ecosystem on the 19th of April. Everything be live on testnet so you can check it out and see exactly how it all works. And we don’t have a really good borrowing and lending protocol out there with lots of liquidity working at the moment. That’s something we should look into and find out what’s happening there.

05:25
But Cerra hopefully will bring in some more options for the community in regards to borrowing and lending protocols. This is something to keep an eye on. It’s still a good two weeks away. So I’ll keep you guys up to date with this one and try out the test net for myself to see how it all works. But awesome to see that these guys are back. We do need more developers in the space continuously building. if the funds weren’t there to keep on building, hopefully they are now and it’s good to see you guys back.

05:54
Now these guys via finance, I love the what the team are doing here. Steven from the team there is always good to have on the podcast. But via fi have now gotten Azen’s USDA farm on there. So they’re attracting in the Azen’s USDA liquidity. I don’t know if they partnered up with them directly to have liquidity pools on there, but they’re trying to attract some of the

06:22
at least over from MintSwap or anyone that is minting into the Cardano ecosystem. So this is a good play. If you see some opportunities, you seize it and create some more rewards for users in terms of liquidity, liquidity rewards to attract that USDA liquidity onto the decks. So this is a really good move and I can’t wait to see how much liquidity actually comes into the ecosystem for Vi Finance.

06:49
They really do make the DeFi experience a lot easier and they do have some attractive DeFi plays as well. So do check this one out. Now, my last video, I was talking about how Book.io had attracted Ingram content as their investors for a second round. And this is also really cool. Now, I was talking about also previously how W3CI or the parent company of USDM.

07:16
had attracted the Hoskinson family office as investors in their company and BookIO have achieved that too. So this is Charles Hoskinson himself investing in Cardano projects and BookIO is another one of those projects that they’ve tapped into. Now, I know previously some of Charles’s projects that he’s put money into in for the community hasn’t worked out too well.

07:40
But these latest two projects, I have a lot of faith in. They’ve been working really hard for a good long time now and have launched release product. So it doesn’t seem like investing at the very initial phase of an idea. It’s more so investing on a project well down the path of revenue generation. So well past that initial seed phase and needing just some more money.

08:09
and funding to scale up. So it’s much safer bet. And I love that Charles has jumped on board for these particular projects. Awesome stuff. Good to see. Congratulations, their team. Now I do these videos on regular basis to keep you guys up to date with everything that’s happening. do all these interviews and I don’t get paid for any of this. All my revenue primarily comes from the YouTube ads and sale of NFTs. So if you want to support the channel,

08:38
you can become a channel member. can have a look here. These are all my fantastic channel members at the moment. You can subscribe if you have the means to do so. And it’s just a price of a cup of coffee. So it’s I’ve kept it as low as possible. So if you can, if you do have the means, if you do want to support, you can do so that way. And it keeps me going, keeps me motivated and keeps me producing these videos for you guys. If you can’t afford that, that’s totally fine. You don’t need to don’t feel guilty that you can’t.

09:07
But if you can at least hit that like and subscribe button, it helps with the algorithm and helps me get these videos out there for the community. Now with that out of the way, let’s get back to it. This is a cool update from Cerebus and I love their risk rating profiles and you know, it did need some tweak and got some community feedback. And now they’ve upgraded to Cerebus version 2.2, the brand new version for their risk rating model.

09:35
And now we can see better risk ratings across their ecosystem. You’ll see risk ratings for Polygon now even. And this will give anyone that is coming into the crypto space a really good idea and understanding of the risk levels for any project they’re looking at. So this is really, really needed. And I love also their partnership that they have with Matera, which will bring in the risk rating index.

10:05
for various projects in the ecosystem. now you’ll be able to use and utilize and apply their Zeropis risk model and then have all these particular indexes in the ecosystem that you can purchase into. So I absolutely love this project and congratulations on working on this particular upgrade. I know there’s some other things you guys are working on the background such as the meld fallout investigation. So hopefully you guys still got some funding and stuff to work on that one too.

10:34
But I would love to see how this one all works more in detail and how it has affected your risk ratings for the Cardano ecosystem. So awesome work there. Seribus. Incoins is another project that I’ve been constantly monitoring and they’re bringing in privacy transactions for the Cardano ecosystem. They got some catalyst funding recently in the last round and they’ve been working through on some of their

10:58
particular projects. And this is a development update in regards to what they’ve been building, what they’ve been working on. And I love how Catalyst has been able to fund these projects to deliver these type of things for the ecosystem. So if you want to check out, it’s more in detail. It’s a little bit more of a technical update. They do have their medium post here that you can check through so you have a better understanding of what the Encoins team are doing. But once this is delivered and up and running from their Catalyst proposal,

11:28
I’ll cover it in more detail at that point so that we can actually have something a bit more tangible to see and understand how it works. So check out NCoins, another project that is working in the ecosystem to bring privacy on chain to Godano. Now, Titans, I hadn’t really covered that much, but they are doing some really cool things in regards to having their NFTs generate revenue for the ecosystem.

11:55
And they invested a whole lot of their resources into Goofy Gophers Mining Club, the GGMC. And these guys, what they do is they purchase Bitcoin mining hardware. They’re not just Bitcoin, using those hardware miners, the proof of work miners, and they go off and put them into data centers and mine various cryptocurrencies that are profitable at that point in time.

12:22
What projects can do is they can raise the funds and reserve some of those mining machines. So, and then from there, their community can stake their FTs, their tokens, whatever it is, then earn some of the rewards in this process. So it’s a way of decentralising the ownership of that hardware mining equipment. Really cool stuff. They’ve now partnered up with Matera as well. So they’re adding in a Titan token to their Deepin index.

12:51
So now you can purchase the part of that deep in index and earn some rewards from that too. And the Titans will be a part of that place. So really cool stuff. I really do like indexes. I really do like projects that decentralize this whole process of mining ownership and hardware ownership and resource provision. So Novela and House of Titans, two projects that are doing something very similar, but in different ways.

13:21
So this is a cool update from a Terra as well. So the first Cardano index on mainnet six days ago, we minted our first MTK on mainnet before going live. We were conducting final tests to ensure everything runs smoothly. Get ready for Metera. Awesome. Okay. So you can find the transaction details down below. You can see proof that they’ve minted the first ones on chain. So here you’d be able to now use or get, we will be able to get this MTK tokens.

13:49
which form their indexes. So this is really exciting stuff, guys. So keep an eye out for this one. When it launches, I’ll cover it again in more detail. We should see this one very soon. So where they’ve minted. So they’re ready any moment now, guys. We should see more indexes being traded on the ecosystem. So we should be able to see it on Matera, but then also trade on other Dex’s. So you’d be able to actually buy and purchase the index token and that will go up and down. Should track the prices.

14:19
against any of the projects that are formed and a part of that particular index. They’re really good stuff. I can’t wait to see this one live. And this is a good update from Genius Yield. We don’t get updates from the team that often, but when we do, they’re pretty cool. They’re really good. They’ve been working on a lot of things in the backend there to improve the decks and give us more yield reward to anyone that is providing liquidity and trading on their decks. And this is a brand new tech update, but they’ve got a little summary here. So first off, they got the

14:48
SLV two way swaps and it’s currently in testing at the moment due for launch at the end of April. And they also have this embeddable decks client. Embeddable decks client. So it sounds like you can embed their decks on your website. Maybe I can get that working and embedded on the Learn Cardano website. Is that the idea? That sounds really cool. It will let anyone

15:15
that’s looking at a particular project that I’m talking about on the website, start swapping straight away and directly into the genius yield, which is no batches. So no exorbitant fees there. So that’s a really nice, nice thing to have implemented in. So here’s what’s new. Front end implementation from embedded Dex client. Great SOR and market maker bot updates with the latest Atlas. I will be doing a market maker bot tutorial.

15:44
So you can learn how to get these smart routers and market maker bots up so you can make some revenue off their decks. And then they also have RWA platform investors and issuing onboarding UI. Cool. I didn’t know they were going down the RWA path, but it makes sense. Anyway, you can find out more details on their documentation, their technical update here for April.

16:09
You can find out everything that they’ve been working on and you can see here there are quite a few things. So do check them out. It’s always good to see them working really hard in the background for the community. Awesome stuff. Geniusy old. Now I want to do a shout out for Banana Clip Games here. Now I do love their platform. I probably spent way too much time already playing with some of these games. Some of these I didn’t even know existed, but are highly addictive.

16:37
I can’t remember what it’s called, this mining game where you’re in this little tank with a giant drill and you dig down for resources and you collect it and then have to fly back up to the top. I can’t remember what it’s called. I’ll try and find it and put a link down below, but I lost a lot of time playing that one. Anyway, they have their token. This is the Banana Clip Monkey token. It’s a hyper deflationary token for high stakes chance based events.

17:05
lotteries, jackpot spin the wheels. So it’s a token that you can use when their ecosystem to play around with this kind of like a casino token. It is an IDO. I do not like covering IDOs that much. So do keep that in mind. Anytime I’ve entered an IDO, I’ve lost. So, you know, I do avoid them these days because I don’t do too well with the trading of these particular tokens. I may pick up some of the tokens later on way past the IDO.

17:35
Usually the token price drops, we’ll see what happens there. I’ll be playing around with the ecosystem, the games at least. Now this other thing they’re talking about here, they’ve partnered up with, with Coq to produce Flappy Coq based on Flappy Birds. Very good guys. I’ll see what that one looks like. Hopefully it literally isn’t a flapping around the screen, but anyway.

18:03
Awesome work BananaClip Games. Love what you guys are doing. And this last news update here I have around Jed. I’m always talking about USDA, USDM and all the Cardano based stable coins. But this one here, the Jed Alliance, they were the first ones to relelease an Algorithmic stablecoin.

18:28
I don’t think we’re supposed to use that word algorithmic anymore. It kind of soured within the ecosystem in crypto in general, but they were the first ones to release this and they’ve got this new UI that they have put together on the new finance here on new finance. But a new UI, one more UI where you can mint SigUSD, the first ever GED based Debitcoin and the first on a UTXO blockchain on Ergo maintained its peg since early 2021.

18:57
So good to see more projects supporting their ecosystem and doing new ways that you can mint more USD, SIG USD. So that’s awesome stuff. Good to see these projects continuously building, Jed Alliance, Mu Finance, and also the Rosen Bridge, which makes the liquidity for this possible to move from one chain to another. So awesome stuff guys. Really good to see.

19:22
And that’s all of the news updates I have for the end of this week. If you enjoyed it, make sure you hit that thumbs up, like, subscribe, notification bell. But I’ve got one more thing here. Now I know not everyone likes or needs the links and references, show notes and everything that I show in the videos here. But if you do, you can get to it at the learnkandano.io website. I’ve done something a little bit different there now. All of those actual links are gated by CardanoPress. So you now need to have the

19:51
NFT, CardanoPress NFT. I advertise it down below and you can see it in the lower thirds every now and then come along on the screen there. But you need one of those NFTs now to be able to make your wallet and unlock links and references of the resources I have on the website. So it gives that NFT a little bit more utility and also showcases how easy it is for anyone to set up a website with WordPress and CardanoPress into it and then start gating content.

20:21
It’s the easiest use case that you find with that particular plugin and does absolutely a job of it. I thought I would showcase and do various use cases for you guys so can actually see it all in action. So if anyone did buy one of those entities, you can now get in. All right, that’s all I got guys. Have a good weekend and I’ll see you in the next video.
