In a previous video I did, I showed you how you can generate dust using the Lace Wallet and a website called Nevermind. And with that, you paired up your Cardano Wallet and your Midnight Wallet, and then you can start generating dust through the interface. You have to pay a little fee and away you go. This is a far easier process and it’s all thanks to the team from 1AM.
This is their website here, this ex-profile I should say, and this is their website. They have been spearheading a lot of the wallet development within the Midnight ecosystem. They’re the first wallet to launch. I didn’t really know much about them, but they’ve shown their faces at Consensus in Miami and have been building and really hitting some goals in the Midnight ecosystem.
So this is definitely something to look into and start playing with. And in this video, I’m going to go through how to actually generate dust within their wallet. And it is such an easy process compared to the previous video tutorial that I did. So let’s go through it here.
Now, if you want to start installing this wallet extension, go to it at 1AM.xyz. That’s 1 as in the number 1 AM, and then you’ll be able to see this website. Click on Add to Browser. This will bring up the Chrome Store.
I’ve already installed this one here, so you can see the Remove from Brave here, but install that and it will set you up within a few moments. Now, I’ve got a Cardano Wallet that I already have set up. Well, actually, the 1AM team set up for me and funded for me. So thank you so much for that, guys.
It makes my process a lot easier here. But you can see it’s got 15 ADA in there and some assets, 100 NIGHT tokens. So what I did was I restored this Cardano Wallet over to my 1AM wallet. And you can see the assets here as well.
So you can see the Cardano assets. I’ve got NIGHT tokens here and I’ve also got the ADA there as well. So it matches up quite nicely. So I know I’ve got the Cardano assets and I can move my assets around if I want.
But that pairs up and mirrors everything on the midnight side of things. Now, in their interface here, it’s a quick, easy process to just click on Generate Dust. This little pop-up comes up and it says Register UNITE on Cardano to generate dust. Cool.
So I’ve got 100 C NIGHT and I’ve got some ADA left over my wallet here. So let me click on Generate Dust. So this will come up with building the transaction. So this is the transaction here.
So it’s going to lock a little bit of ADA in this process. Mint one registration token and then link the Cardano state key to the midnight dust address. Cool. Everything looks good.
Let’s confirm and sign this. Your NIGHT on Cardano is registered for dust generation. Dust can take up to 12 hours to appear. Okay.
We saw that kind of messages before and there’s a transaction hash submitted. That is far easier, guys, compared to the other process that we were going through. And if I click on that button again, it would tell me that my registration is pending. So that’s where I’m going to see my dust accumulate over time.
And that’s it. That’s all I had to do. And I have to say that is far, far easier with less bugs in the interface compared to what we saw before. And with the update of LACE recently, the LACE wallet being updated to version 2, we did see a lot of bugs and whatnot in that experience.
So thankfully, the 1AM team have put something together here. So it is worth trying out, guys. If you’re unsure about using the brand new wallet and you’re worried about your seed phrases and all that, just create a brand new one. Create a brand new one, move some NIGHT tokens over to it, move a little bit of ADA over to it as well.
So you can use it and interact with the chain, stake, delegate, you know, all that stuff that you normally do, but then generate your dust tokens. And with that, you’ll be able to interact with some of the brand new dApps that are building in the Midnight ecosystem. Now, if you’re a mobile user, you’re in luck because 1AM team also have their mobile experience in the App Store and Android Google Play Store as well.
